About the Event
Where: Hickory Creek Preserve - LaPorte Rd Access in Mokena
RSVP by April 1st – LIMIT of 75 GIRLS!!
Arrive a little bit before 4:30. Meet at the back lot at the big Hickory Hollow shelter.
During arrival and the first 15 min of the program, Forest Preserve staff will lead girls in making their own nature journals. Girls will then be split up into 3 groups and staff will lead them in hiking and with journal activities along the way. This will be a good chance to experience nature through an artistic lens. Activities will encourage the girls to use their senses, pay attention to detail, and of course have some time to run around in the outdoors. Be prepared to walk on surface and natural trails with times going off trail. Long pants and closed toed shoes are strongly recommended.
This will be a rain or shine event. In the case of rain, we will still make the journals, but adjust the activities. It's good to experience all weather conditions! Only in the case of thunder and lightning will we need to stop and seek shelter.
